Lessons Learned

At the start of my web development journey, I've always wanted to try and lay my hands on the latest awesome web technologies and frameworks. However, I often questioned whether I was prepared to delve into these flashy frameworks. I came across many articles that emphasized the importance of having a solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and JS before jumping into advanced frameworks. So I decided to hold my horses and master the basics before getting into more complex stuff.

“Your Journey” website is one of the projects that I built aiming at strengthening my core fundamentals in HTML, CSS, and JS. I’ve gained a lot building it, here are some of the stuff I learned:

  • Striving for a solid grasp of CSS, I styled the website entirely in vanilla CSS. this allowed me to have a stronger understanding of various concepts like media queries, animation, flexbox, selectors, font faces, and more.
  • Building complex gird UI enabled me to develop an in-depth understanding of CSS grid & flexbox.
  • I implemented staggered animations using vanilla JavaScript and utilized browser APIs such as the Intersection Observer for on-scroll and loading animations. This allowed me to further hone my JS background.
